wwdc 2020: Apple may rename iOS to iPhoneOS at WWDC 2020 -

Apple may no longer call the operating system of iPhone as iOS and the company may reportedly rename it to iPhoneOS. We have already seen Apple introducing iPadOS last year and this time Apple may kill the “iOS” nomenclature altogether with the introduction of iPhoneOS. Having said that there is no official word from Apple on this new nomenclature yet and we will have to wait till June 22 for WWDC 2020 to get a confirmation.
YouTuber Jon Prosser also hinted at the same by tweeting out “iPhoneOS” as a cryptic tweet hinting at a possible name change. Other tipsters have also confirmed the same. Apple uses the name ‘iOS’ for both iPhone and iPod. While iPhoneOS goes well with iPhones, it is not clear whether Apple will retain iOS for iPods or not.
Apple will host WWDC 2020 virtually on the Apple Developer app as well as on the Apple Developer Website. Apple will give a glimpse of what it will bring to iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS and watchOS at the event.
Apple is expected to be launching some new products as well. A YouTube and part-time tipster Jon Prosser has revealed that Apple is planning to launch three new products at WWDC this year. Prosser added that Apple is planning to launch the all-new AirTags and a premium pair of over-ear Bluetooth headphones at the event.
Apple AirTags are Tile-like object tracking tags. The yet-to-launch Apple Tags are said to work with the latest iPhone models and will enable users to easily track and locate their everyday items. It is also expected that Apple might use its U1 locator chip in the device. Moreover, the company is also said to incorporate an augmented reality interface that will help users in finding their lost items.
