Apple is rumoured to be working on the Tile-like Bluetooth tracking device likely to be named as AirTags — expected to launch sometime this year — that users can attach it to any item that’s easy to misplace. Apple was earlier expected to integrate the AirTag feature right under the Settings option. However, some new information related to AirTags has surfaced online that reveals more details on features and functionalities of the device, thanks to the tipster @blue_kanikama.
According to the tweet posted by the @blue_kanikama, it has been suggested that the AirTag will display owners information and it will play sound, which is a usual feature for any device of this kind. Also, the tracking device can be shared with a limited number of friends and family. The tracking device is also expected to come with NFC for faster pairing and setup process.
The tweet also suggests that the device will come with Augmented Reality support. This suggests that the AirTags might work from the upcoming Apple Glass and help users to scan a particular area for the lost items.
The AirTags are also rumoured to come with its own custom chip called R1 and it will work with the Apple iPhone U1 chip for better location accuracy compared to the competition. Apart from this, @blue_kanikama has also confirmed about a new app called Find my Tag that will not only make things easier, but is also expected to work offline and let users locate their product or item when not connected to the Internet.
